Book Review: The Big Picture Interactive 52-Week Bible Story Devotional: Connecting Christ Throughout God’s Story

The Big Picture Interactive 52-Week Bible Story Devotional: Connecting Christ Throughout God’s StoryThe Big Picture Interactive 52-Week Bible Story Devotional: Connecting Christ Throughout God’s Story by B&H Editorial Staff

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

B&H has done an excellent job with the Big Picture series. The 52-Week Bible Story Devotional is another book I am pleased to add to my shelf. Each devotional has 8 elements that allow for great variety. Depending on how much time we wanted to take we chose a couple of sections or did them all. They were short enough to keep our younger children’s attention and yet challenging to our older ones.

*The devotional: The devotional section was both engaging and entertaining. Each of my kids were always able to engage with this to some degree.
*Hear it: This feature is unique to The Big Picture Interactive, (a free downloadable app lets kids experience a digital "pop-up", using Augmented Reality, of each Bible story along with narration by Jenna Lucado Bishop) My kids thought this was so cool and were always eager to hear & see the story
*Read it: Select Bible verses were provided that the children could read.
*Watch it: My kids loves the videos. Each one is so uniquely presented, they often mentioned something about the video or acted it out later.
*Christ connection: Seeing the connection to Christ is not always obvious, and this is a great section for kids as they are moving beyond just a Bible story.
*Live Big: This section is where we got to put the Bible lesson into practical form by way of ministry ideas, a game, or just simply drawing a picture.
*Big Picture Questions: This offered ways for us to talk about the devotional and see how to apply what we had learned.
*Dear God: A suggested prayer wrapped up the devotional.

This would be a great addition in anyone's family library. I recommend this to families looking for something more than just the story.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
